Fall Is Here — Schedule Your Service Check Before You Need Your Furnace

schedule your service check asheville north carolinaAs the weather gets cooler, more and more people will begin to use their furnaces. Many times, however, they don’t realize there is a problem until it’s too late. By the time they turn their furnaces on for the first time it is already cold outside, and they need their furnaces to be in working order. Just as you change the oil in your car periodically and get regular dental checkups to prevent complications later, you should have your furnace checked regularly to ensure it works correctly and efficiently. If you wait until it breaks, you may have to pay far more to get it fixed than if you’d had routine service maintenance performed.

When hunting for a company to maintain your system, look for one that designs, installs and services the type of system you have. Then, consider signing up for a preventive maintenance agreement that will provide you with regular service.

When a furnace maintenance contractor visits your home, he or she will:

  • Inspect and test your furnace to ensure it is operating at peak efficiency
  • Check belts and filters and replace them as needed
  • Oil moving parts and inspect the wiring
  • Check the heat exchanger, flue and ducts and to adjust the burner
  • Give advice regarding energy upgrades that may help your system’s efficiency

Without regular inspections and cleaning, a furnace system can wear out and stop working — or even pump deadly gases into your home — while a clean and well-adjusted system is safe and efficient. A furnace in good working order will save money on fuel as well as prolong the system’s life.

If you’re considering service for your furnace, contact us at Smoky Mountain Heating & Airfor more information on our preventive maintenance agreements.
