How Homeowners Can Benefit From A Furnace Motor Efficiency Upgrade
If you’re not only worried about your home’s energy costs but also how efficient your home’s heating system is, you need to look into the benefits of installing an electronically commutated motor (ECM) in your home’s furnace. Studies have shown that ECMs can increase energy savings significantly.
An ECM is a DC motor that’s brushless and has built-in speed and torque controls. These features allow the motor to adjust speed and allow for constant optimal airflow. The biggest benefits to this are that ECMs utilize much less electricity as they deliver warm air via the furnace or cool air through an air cooling system. They are much less expensive to run and quieter then standard furnace fans.
Installing an ECM in your current furnace has many benefits:
- Increased furnace efficiency and reduced energy use.
- Lower energy costs.
- System runs much quieter than traditional furnace fans.
- Even temperatures are more easily maintained in a residence with less temperature fluctuations.
- Improved indoor air quality/less stale air.
- Better humidity control during wet time periods and reduced dryness.
Any forced-air furnace using gas, electricity, propane or oil can have an ECM installed inside them.
