I'm not getting heat in my home
Step 1: Verify that your thermostat has power and is set to HEAT and the temperature setting is greater than the indoor temperature
- No? Check thermostat batteries / power and place thermostat on HEAT and the setting greater than the room temperature
- Yes? Proceed to Step 2
Step 2: Check all switches, circuit breakers and fuses to be sure there is electricity to the unit
- No? Reset switches, circuit breakers and fuses and make sure any disconnects are on
- Yes? Proceed to Step 3
Step 3: Check that your filters are not blocked with dust or dirt
- No? Proceed to Step 4
- Yes? Change or clean filters as necessary
Step 4: Select your type of furnace from the list below and follow the appropriate instructions
Oil? If oil furnace, check that there is more than 8 inches of oil in the tank
- No? Oil delivery is needed. Schedule delivery before calling for service
- Yes? Check to see if the safety reset has tripped. Push the reset button only once.
Propane? If propane furnace, check that there is more that 5% gas in tank and gas valve is on
- No? Propane delivery needed. Schedule delivery before calling for service
- Yes? Pilot light or ignitor may be out. Consult owner’s manual or call for service
Natural Gas? Check that your gas valve at the gas company meter is turned on
- No? Contact your gas supplier.
- Yes? Pilot light or ignitor may be out. Consult owner’s manual or call for service
Heat Pump? Is the outside unit (compressor) running?
- No? Is the disconnect switch on, if so, consult owner’s manual or call for service
- Yes? If the outside temperature is below 35 degrees F, you may need to select “Emergency Heat” or turn-on your strip heat in your unit at the thermostat.

I'm not getting cool air from my air conditioner
STEP 1: Verify that your thermostat has power and is set to COOL and the temperature setting is lower than the indoor temperature
- No? Check thermostat batteries / power and place thermostat on COOL and the setting lower than the room temperature
- Yes? Proceed to Step 2:
STEP 2: Check all switches, circuit breakers and fuses to be sure there is electricity to the unit
- No? Reset switches, circuit breakers and fuses and make sure any disconnects are on
- Yes? Proceed to Step 3:
STEP 3: Check that your filters are not blocked with dust or dirt
- No? Proceed to Step 4:
- Yes? Change or clean filters as necessary
STEP 4: Is the outside unit (compressor) running?
- No? Is the disconnect switch on, if so, consult owner’s manual or call for service
- Yes? Your indoor unit’s coil may be frozen. Try turning off your thermostat for 1 – 3 hours to see if it will unfreeze. Then consult your owner’s manual or call for service

The drain pan is overflowing
STEP 1: Water is standing in the drain pan of the indoor unit
- No? Coil may be frozen or condensate drain / pump may have a problem. Turn off unit, check filters for dust or dirt and consult owner’s manual or call for service
- Yes? Proceed to Step 2:
STEP 2: Overflow switch or condensate pump may not be functioning
- No? Turn off unit. Consult owner’s manual or call for service
- Yes? Turn off unit. Consult owner’s manual or call for service
